That's the limit of my understanding so others may help clarify some of these others. I know there are other numbers like 32's which may be UK versions of 23's. I'm not sure about the YTS-62E, YTS-62SE but I think it has something to do with (European) models maybe the "S" being silverplated. Yamaha now has new Customs (in the altos and tenors only) the 82 Z and the 875 EX replacing the simple "875" number designation. So the new 62 II (only alto and tenor) I think, is sort of a "retro sax" with the new improved G-1 neck. The 62 was a long sucessful product line that made some minor changes through the years. The Customs or 875's came a little later.īut now those numbers have been changed to 275, 475, 675 and 875 (or Customs) The "old numbers" that followed the letters like 23, 52, 61, 62, (61 replacement) designates the level or grade of saxophone Student, Intermediate, and Professional respectively. So the YTS-62 Mark VI, I think, would be a misnomer combining a Yamaha with Selmer product designations. YTS (Yamaha Tenor Saxophone), YAS (Yamaha Alto Saxophone), YSS (Yamaha Soprano Saxophone), YBS (Yamaha Baritone Saxophone).
